Our Nurses

Debbi McAvoy, RN
Debbi, our head nurse, joined the Fertility Institute of Virginia in 1993. She is originally from Long Island, New York where she worked on the Medical/Surgical OB/GYN unit at Huntington Hospital. Debbi is married and has one daughter who is following her mother’s footsteps and is studying nursing at James Madison University. In her spare time, Debbi enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends. Debbi’s warm personality and exemplary clinical skills make her a perfect match for our patients.

Lesli Joyal, LPN
Lesli has been in nursing since 1991 and had experience in family practice and geriatrics prior to joining the Fertility Institute of Virginia in 2003. Originally from Northern Virginia, Lesli lived in Vermont for 12 years and is happy to be back in Virginia. Lesli is married with two children, and she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Lesli easily puts our patients at ease and makes them comfortable.

Lisa Edmonds, RN
Lisa joined the Fertility Institute in Spring 2006. She has five years of Oncology experience and eight years OB/GYN experience. Lisa has lived in the Richmond area for 17 years. She is married and has 3 children. Having always had an interest in Women’s health, Lisa uses her positive energy to educate and offer support to our patients.

Geri Seifert, RN
Geri Seifert happily joined the team of FIV in 1998 after many years in the nursing field. Although Geri officially “retired” in 2005, she “feels honored” to continue working on a prn basis. In her retirement, Geri spends time traveling to visit her family, exercising daily at the gym, reading, knitting, and most of all spending time with her friends.

Our Office Team

Margaret N. “Pattie” Carson
Our office manager, Pattie, is from the Richmond area and began her medical career in 1982 in the Obstetrics and Gynecology field. Pattie joined the Fertility Institute of Virginia in 2004. She is married with two daughters, one son, and four grandchildren. Pattie likes to spend time with her husband camping and traveling. She also enjoys her spare time with her dog, cats, and horses.

Pattie is our office insurance specialist and is your direct liaison with the insurance companies. Pattie makes every effort to obtain insurance approval for your infertility care and we know you’ll be confident with her attentiveness to your needs. She will also help you with any billing questions or concerns. Prior to your visit with us, Pattie will be the one you would speak with concerning the financial aspects of your health care needs and your treatment.

Sherri Johnson
Sherri, our billing coordinator, joined the Fertility Institute of Virginia in 1997. Working closely with Pattie, Sherri is a specialist with insurance/IVF issues. Sherri lives in Midlothian, Virginia, with her husband and three children. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her friends, and attending her children’s sporting events.

Allison Correll
Alli, our receptionist, joined the Fertility Institute of Virginia in 2005. She is married and has a little boy. Allison loves to spend time with her family and to be outdoors. She is also very active in her church.

Crystal Dillaman
Crystal, our receptionist, joined the Fertility Institute of Virginia in 2009. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Crystal is from the Richmond area. Crystal enjoys traveling with her husband, trips to the beach, and Virginia Tech football.

Diane Burnette
Diane joined the Fertility Institute of Virginia in 2002. In addition to her roles as front desk receptionist and scheduler, Diane also handles patient charges and payments. Married with one daughter (and having recently become a grandmother), Diane loves college football and her Saturdays are filled with watching as many college games as she can, especially Virginia Tech.
