| Male and Female Fertility Evaluation |
|
FIV
understands that being diagnosed with Infertility can be a
stressful issue. You owe it to yourselves to become more
informed on the topic of fertility and infertility, and its
available programs to assist you. Your GYN may have referred
you to an Infertility Specialist such as our practice. If
you are having difficulty becoming pregnant or have
discussed reproductive disorders with your GYN, further
evaluation and testing may be needed. FIV provides a
sequence of common test according to the individual
situation. Evaluation of both partners is often necessary to
pin-point the beginning of your health care plan and devise
a scheduled plan to a successful pregnancy. The following
are all procedures of specialized infertility care that the
Fertility Institute of Virginia offers.
|
| Ovulation Induction |
|
Induction of ovulation is the use of medication to
stimulate the development of one or more mature follicles in
the ovaries of women producing signs of infertility.
Irregular menstrual cycles and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
are possible discoveries that may require medication use.
|
| Artificial Insemination with Husband
or Donor Sperm |
|
Artificial Insemination with Husband or Donor sperm is
timed to the woman's ovulatory cycle. The procedure is
usually performed in-office. Careful screening will have
been done to assure you the best possible outcome FIV can
offer. There is more information about this process on our
Procedures page.
|
| Sperm Freezing (cryopreservation) |
|
Sperm Freezing or Cryopreservation is a method of
freezing and storing embryos at a low temperature. Only
fertilized eggs (embryos) are utilized. This procedure may
offer a couple more than one chance to achieve pregnancy
form a single egg retrieval procedure.
|
| Diagnosis and Treatment of
Immunological Causes of Infertility |
|
Immunological
causes of Infertility may be a result of environmental
surroundings. Environmental possibilities are explored to
offer insight for reasons of recurrent miscarriages.
Teratogens, such as certain drugs or chemicals, alcohol,
tobacco and malnutrition are all environmental aspects that
should be evaluated for beginning your heath care program.
We will look at all of these including the presence of
childhood diseases and treatments that may have effected
your responses to pregnancy.
|
| Operative Laser Laparoscopy |
|
Laser Laparoscopy is a technique used to explore the
pelvic region for scar tissue, adhesions or Endometriosis.
When ultra sounds may not have provided enough information
or in fact show cause to look further, Operative Laser
Laparoscopy can be performed to alleviate pelvic pain,
remove Endometriosis, scar tissue or even open closed
fallopian tubes.
|
| Microsurgery |
|
The use of Microsurgery is determined after exploration
by the Lazer Laparoscopy. This procedure can repair
fallopian tubes or correct disorders that are more advanced
and not elevated with basic Laser Laparoscopy. FIV utilizes
Microsurgery in the IVF, GIFT and ZIFT programs. More about
these procedures can be found on our Procedures page.
|
| Tubal Reversal |
|
Minimizing operating time is important to your recovery and
health care. At some point you may have had your tubes
"tied" or more appropriately a Tubal Ligation to
prevent pregnancy. Tubal Ligation Reversal can rejoin two
healthy segments of fallopian tube and increase the option
for pregnancy. Your Dedicated Professionals at FIV can
assist in this procedure and begin your health care plan to
a successful pregnancy. We do offer the following fee
schedule as an estimated cost for Tubal Reanastomosis (Tubal
Reversal). We are unable to project the actual cost,
but this schedule will give you an idea of what you will
encounter for this procedure. This procedure is usually an
elective procedure to reverse prior sterilization.
Because this procedure is usually not done out of medical
necessity, verify with your insurance carrier for coverage.

| Medical and Surgical Therapy for
Fibroid Tumors |
|
Heavy
menstrual bleeding, clotting and pelvic pain are some
indications of Fibroid Tumors. If you body has failed to
respond to medical therapy of non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs or GnRH Injections then your Doctor
may recommend surgical treatment by an Infertility
Specialist. Hysteroscopic, Laparoscopic or Abdominal
Myomectomy are performed to remove Fibroid Tumors found
inside or outside the uterus. Our Doctors are trained and
experienced in these specific procedures to help advance
your health care towards a successful pregnancy.
|
| Medical and Surgical Therapy for
Endometriosis |
|
Endometriosis is the evidence of adhesions or scar tissue
attached to the tubal areas or uterus and can prevent
pregnancy. Medications may provide adequate medical
treatment for Endometriosis in a managed health care
environment, however sometimes surgical treatments are
needed to eliminate Endometriosis from fallopian tubes or
the uterus. Laser Surgery is often performed for
Endometriosis removal. Contact FIV today to discuss your
medical or surgical therapy for Endometriosis.
