The Fertility Institute of Virginia participates with most insurance plans and many carry some type of infertility benefits. Our experience has shown that most patients have coverage for at least the diagnosis and testing of fertility. In terms of treatments, insurance coverage varies from carrier to carrier.
Our office will discuss your coverage with you and will ensure that you understand the financial aspect of your treatments. We will file your insurance for you, however according to the strict rules of insurance coverage we are required to accept a co-payment from you at the time of your appointments.
We are fortunate to have an expert in fertility insurance coverage right in our office. Pattie Carson, our office manager, has extensive experience in Virginia insurance plans and their coverages for fertility treatments. We think you will find Pattie a valuable resource for your insurance questions. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact Pattie at (804) 379-9000 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Currently, 15 states mandate some sort of infertility insurance coverage. Although Virginia is not one of these states, we are working with our legislators to ensure that the Commonwealth joins those 15 states in recognizing the need for mandated coverage. For more information about state-mandated insurance, please visit the RESOLVE website here.
There are some resources in the community for help with your fertility costs, if you feel your insurance coverage is not adequate. Some financial institutions offer loans to specifically help you pay for your fertility treatments. Pattie Carson can advise you of these opportunities.
Shared IVF Success Program
The success of IVF has greatly improved over the years and the Fertility Institute of Virginia is proud to have success rates that consistently well exceed the national average. However we do understand that IVF is not successful with every attempt and that the process can be both emotionally and financially stressful.
For these reasons, the Fertility Institute of Virginia and the Virginia IVF and Andrology Center offer a “Shared IVF Success Program.” For a more complete description of this program, please visit the Virginia IVF and Andrology Center.
Payment for Services
To help keep medical costs down, we request you pay routine charges and co-payments at the time services are rendered. Unfortunately, many insurers do not cover some infertility treatments. In these cases, the patient will be responsible for payment at the time the services are provided.
